The Integrated Flood and Water Resources Management (IFWARM) is set to establish the international association on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction management (IO-CCA/DRRM) after its board approval by the Board of Regents in the recently concluded Isabela State University (ISU) board meeting on April 22, 2021. The association aims to promote the integration on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction management, environmental awareness and mitigation. ISU will be the host and base office of the association.

Hence, the IO-CCA/DRRM shall:

  • provide technical support towards developing disaster-resilient river basins and communities making them as best examples of disaster risk reduction and management;
  • assist in solving environmental problems in river basins and communities in close cooperation with the community and stakeholders;
  • promote the attainment of ethical leadership by knowing, understanding, and considering the core values of its members;
  • forge a strong partnership among academic, government, communities, and industries on common platforms and goals; and
  • be non-sectarian, non-partisan, and non-political.

Some of the major activities of the organization include the conduct of a bi-annual International Conference on CCA-DRRM in water resources and river basin management and the creation of an International Publication on CCA-DRRM.

Initial International membership will come from Kyoto University(Japan), Thuyloi University(Vietnam), National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan Water Resources Agency, and Kasetsart University (Thailand) while initial national membership will come from the Isabela State University, National Irrigation Administration, National Water Resources Board, Department of Science and Technology, Office of Civil Defense, and City of Cauayan.
